Travel Arrangements & Insurance Information for Holiday Clients
Nordic Challenge is not a tour operator and our clients need to make their own travel arrangements. We will advise you on the most suitable flights and transfer arrangements for your specific holiday. Alternatively, you may wish to use the services of...
….our travel agent partner
who will make the necessary flight arrangements for your holiday. (N.B.This agent cannot book Norwegian rail travel). Please contact:

Flights
We recommend that clients fly direct to Oslo (Gardermoen) International. SAS and BA are the only two carriers that fly direct to Oslo (Gardermoen) from London Heathrow or Manchester. Internal connecting flights to London and Manchester are available from many of the UK's provincial airports.
The Norwegian airline Norwegian.no (www.norwegian.no) flies from both London Gatwick and Edinburgh direct to Oslo (Gardermoen).
Clients can also book KLM flights to Oslo from Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool and Leeds/Bradford airports, but these flights involve a change at Amsterdam.
Clients can also fly Ryanair from Edinburgh, Liverpool, Stansted to Oslo Torp (on the South coast of Norway) and from Stansted and Newcastle to Oslo Rygge/Moss, which is 40 minutes travel time South of Oslo. Although these flights can be financially attractive, clients should be aware that flights to these destinations will incur additional transfer costs to reach Vinstra and Lillehammer.
Ideally, we recommend that outward flights should be early morning flights to allow transfer to the hotel during daylight hours.
Return flights should be late afternoon or early evening flights and preferably not before 1515.
Transfer Arrangements
Cross-country Skills holidays and Telemark courses (all at Wadahl)
For the outward journey
- We recommend that clients transfer from Oslo(Gardermoen) to Vinstra using the Norwegian national rail company NSB. Trains can be booked on line at www.nsb.no. A convenient train to catch departs Oslo(Gardermoen) at 1445 and arrives at Vinstra at 1722. Clients will be collected from Vinstra station, which is only 20 minutes from the hotel. Train times may be subject to alteration when a new timetable is published in October 2011. Trains can only be booked on line 3 months (or later) before date of travel. Nordic Challenge will remind clients of this by e-mail well in advance.
For the return journey
- We recommend that all our Wadahl based clients use www.nsb.no to book the 1159 train from Vinstra, which arrives at Oslo (Gardermoen) at 1445. Clients will be taken to Vinstra station by hotel mini-bus to catch this train. Return flights should therefore be booked for after 1530. This is important as the alternative transfer arrangements may involve a very early bus, or a train from Lillehammer, which could involve an additional and substantial transfer fee. (Special arrangements will be made for those clients flying to home destinations served by only one early flight).
Peer Gynt Tour Holidays and Sjusjøen Ski Tour Holiday
For the outward journey
- Peer Gynt Experience Ski Tour holiday clients arriving on 10th and 24th Mar should use www.nsb.no to book a seat on the 1445 train from Oslo (Gardermoen) to Vinstra (arriving at 1722) where they will be met and transferred by mini-bus/coach to Dalseter.
- Sjusjøen Ski Tour holiday clients arriving on 4th Mar should use www.nsb.no to book a seat on the 1445 train from Oslo (Gardermoen) to Lillehammer (arriving at 1621) where they will be met and transferred by mini-bus/coach to Sjusjøen.
For the return journey
- Peer Gynt Tour Holiday clients will catch the transfer coach from the Wadahl hotel which departs at 0830 on Saturdays 17th and 31st March. The coach arrives at Oslo Gardermoen airport at 1200.
- Sjusjøen Ski Tour Holiday clients will be transferred to Lillehammer station. There are regular trains departing from Lillehammer to Oslo Gardermoen on Sundays: 0530, 0717, 0913, 1110, 1300 and 1315. The journey is 1hr and 50 minutes. Clients can confirm their return train times on arrival.
