We recommend that clients fly direct to Oslo (Gardermoen) International. SAS and BA are the only two carriers that fly direct to Oslo (Gardermoen) from London Heathrow or Manchester. Internal connecting flights to London and Manchester are available from many of the UK's provincial airports.
The low cost Norwegian airline Norwegian.no (www.norwegian.no) flies from both London Gatwick and Edinburgh direct to Oslo (Gardermoen).
Clients on these holidays can also book KLM flights to Oslo from Edinburgh, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool and Leeds/Bradford airports, but these flights involve a change at Amsterdam.
Clients can also fly Ryanair from Edinburgh, Liverpool and Stansted to Oslo Torp (on the South coast of Norway) and from Stansted and Newcastle *(new)* to Oslo Rygge/Moss, which is 40 mins south of Oslo. Although these flights can be financially attractive, clients should be aware that flights to these destinations will incur additional transfer costs to reach Vinstra.
Ideally, we recommend that:
We recommend that clients transfer from Oslo (Gardermoen) to Vinstra using the Norwegian national rail company NSB. Trains can be booked on line at www.nsb.no. A convenient train to catch departs Oslo (Gardermoen) at 1445 and arrives at Vinstra at 1721. Clients will be collected from Vinstra station, which is only 20 minutes from the hotel. Train times may be subject to alteration when a new timetable is published in October 2010.
For the return journey
Our Peer Gynt Tour Experience clients and Mountain Ski Touring Skills Courses clients will be met by a minibus/coach at Oslo airport on Saturday 12 March and Saturday 26 March, which will transfer them to Dalseter and Ruten.
For the return journey
Flights can be booked on line as follows:
All Nordic Challenge clients will require individual Winter Sports and Holiday Travel insurance cover.
